Shooter surrenders after shooting in shopping center in Norway

(MENAFN) Norwegian police have arrested a man in connection with a shooting that took place Saturday at the Tveita Center shopping mall in eastern Oslo, leaving one person seriously injured.

At a press conference, Knut Lutro from the Oslo Police District said the suspect, a man in his late 20s, turned himself in around 1 p.m. local time on Sunday. He is currently in custody and will be questioned soon. Authorities confirmed the man is not a Norwegian citizen and is known to the police from prior incidents.

The incident occurred after a confrontation between two groups escalated in the mall's café area. During the altercation, one individual drew a handgun and fired multiple shots. Witnesses reported hearing four to six gunshots.

Police believe more than five people were involved in the encounter and are continuing to investigate to determine each person’s role in the incident.
