Dozens get together on UK coast to demonstrate against migration
The demonstration, called the “Great British National Protest,” attracted crowds to the Kent coastline, where participants waved Union Jack and England flags while assembling on the beach and embankments before marching through the town center.
Protesters carried signs with messages like “Asylum frauds out” and “Not racist, not far-right, not being listened to!” while chanting “Stop the boats.” One sign read: “There is no far right, there is no far left, there are only those who fight against the system.” A woman was also filmed performing a rap criticizing Prime Minister Keir Starmer, whom protesters blame for lax migration policies.
Videos on social media showed the protest remained peaceful, and no counter-protests were reported.
Kent Police stated that officers were deployed to maintain order and minimize disruption, ensuring the event stayed lawful and peaceful.
Dover has long been a flashpoint for illegal migration, with thousands attempting dangerous Channel crossings in small boats. The Migration Observatory reported around 37,000 people crossed the Channel this way in 2024—a 25% rise from the previous year—with numbers continuing to climb in 2025.
In the past six years, most migrants crossing this route have come from Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Albania, Syria, and Eritrea.
Public opposition to migration has been growing in the UK, fueled by concerns over rising crime. Government data shows approximately 50,500 knife-related crimes were recorded in England and Wales (excluding Greater Manchester) in the year ending March 2024.
