Ghana congratulates national women’s football team on new record
In a statement released on Sunday, Sports Minister Kofi Iddie Adams hailed the achievement as a significant milestone, noting it is the first time in nearly a decade that the team has advanced this far in the tournament.
“On behalf of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and the government of Ghana, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Black Queens on qualifying for the semifinals of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. This is the first time since 2016 that Ghana has reached this stage, and it is a proud moment for all of us,” Adams said.
The Black Queens booked their spot in the semifinals after a tense 4-2 penalty shootout win over Algeria on Saturday, following a goalless draw in extra time at Stade Mohamed V in Casablanca.
