US Attorney General directs legal proceedings into allegations of Russiagate conspiracy
According to reports, Bondi has instructed a federal prosecutor to pursue a potential indictment. However, details regarding possible charges or the individuals involved remain unclear.
Last month, the US Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, accused former President Barack Obama and his national security team of orchestrating a "years-long coup" against Trump. This claim came as she released a declassified report that Democrats dismissed as inaccurate.
Gabbard contended that intelligence regarding Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election was politicized by the Obama administration to falsely link Trump to Russia. In response, Trump accused Obama of "treason."
An Obama spokesperson dismissed the accusation as "bizarre."
Democrats maintained that Gabbard’s report did not contradict a US intelligence assessment from January 2017, which concluded that Russia sought to harm Hillary Clinton’s campaign and assist Trump’s election three months earlier.
Additionally, a bipartisan Senate intelligence committee report in 2020 corroborated that Russia attempted to aid Trump’s 2016 campaign.
The director of national intelligence recently referred the issue to the Justice Department for review of possible legal action.
